Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Spokane WA
200 PM PDT Thu Jun 26 2025
.KEY MESSAGES...
- Breezy winds across Central and Eastern Washington through
Saturday.
- Occasional rounds of scattered showers over the northern
mountains this afternoon/evening and Friday afternoons.
- Much warmer temperatures Sunday into early next week with
Moderate and Major HeatRisk on Monday and Tuesday.
&&
.SYNOPSIS...
Weak weather systems will continue to pass over the region
through Friday. A chance of showers will occur over the
northern mountains and Idaho Panhandle, with a few thunderstorms
possible along the Canadian border. Seasonal normal
temperatures will end the work week with much warmer
temperatures expected through early next week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Tonight through Saturday: A westerly flow will continue through
the end of the workweek, with another shortwave passing over
the region. This system will again lack moisture, but a few
showers with isolated lightning are possible over the higher
terrain along the Canadian border. Winds will continue to
be breezy this afternoon, with gusts of 20 to 30 mph from the
Columbia Basin to Spokane and down through Pullman. Cooler
temperatures will continue to be cooler than recent days, but
remain around normal.
Sunday through Wednesday: Confidence continues to increasing in
a pattern change early next week, with a ridge building
over the region. Temperatures will warm back up into the 80s
and 90s on Sunday, warming into the mid to upper 90s, with
ensembles hinting at a few 100 near the LC Valley and Columbia
Basin for Monday and Tuesday. Warmest day as of this forecast
appears to be Tuesday before temperatures begin to decrease
slowly. Overnight lows will drop into the 50s and 60s, which
will help bring relief to those without air conditioning. This
upcoming warm spell may be the first significant heat event of
the season, so those with outdoor plans or heat sensitivities
should plan on warmer temps. /KK
